Professional Football Player, Miles Fox, Releases Book About Children Living With Autism

Miles Fox of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers releases new book dedicated to children living with autism.

Miles Fox is an American football defensive tackle for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Prior to playing for Wake Forest as a graduate transfer, he attended and played football for the Old Dominion University Monarchs of Conference USA (C-USA).

Fox was born to George and Cheryl Fox, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where he was raised along with sister, Gabriella, and his little brother, Jackson.

Jackson, who is autistic, is a “source of motivation and inspiration” for Fox.

While at Wake Forest, Fox created a children's book series, Joyful Jamal!, based on his younger brother, Jackson. The full color, and animated, book highlights the daily challenges of children with autism.

Joyful Jamal! is a must read for children, parents, teachers, and those interested in learning more about autism. "Joyful Jamal!" helps the reader understand children who have autism, and also shines a light on something that has become so prevalent in today's world.

"We had no idea what autism was, or how to proceed. It changed our lives so much for the better, and it was a crazy journey", said Miles Fox.

Miles' little brother, Jackson Fox, was diagnosed with autism when he was just 3 years old. When asked how autism has effected his life, Miles Fox had an interesting response: "

"Learning about something you've never heard of at 8 years old, and then figuring out how your family will have to adjust, is scary. My brother Jackson processed things slower than I did, and he dealt with a stutter. It forced me to be patient, knowing he communicated things a little differently than me.

"It also taught me empathy. I just feel for him, knowing how challenging it can be, and knowing that I'll never truly be able to grasp the difficulties he faces. It helps me see the world from a totally different perspective."

"Joyful Jamal!: A Story About Autism" ,the first installment to a whole series, is currently available on Amazon.com and www.joyfuljamal.com . Fox says he will look into getting the book into books stores across the country as well and he plans to one day found a non-profit organization, the mission of which will include assisting families with autistic children.
