B-Rob Talks Selling 10,000 Physical Copies As An Independent Rapper

Rapper B-Rob reflects on being an independent artist.

B-Rob is a rapper from Houston, TX who recently talked with PublicCity about the independent music scene in The South, before The South was what it is recognized for today. He says he remembers seeings rappers producing posters, CD's, and merchandise years ago and he still believes in that system, as well as the digital ways of selling music. On Nas' 2002 release of "Get Down" he raps,

"Southern niggas, independent label, real killers

Know the business, ran Tennessee for years, now, they're chillin'

They had the coke game somethin' crazy

Sold music out the trunk of their car, that shit amazed me"

"I'm inspired by the Slim Thugs and the Trae The Truth's and how they rose independently. I'm really from Houston so I remember the days when they was selling physical copies out of the trunk", says B-Rob.
