Many Houstonians arent happy with Drakes decision to call Travis Scott "Houston's Hero".
Last week, billboards began popping up around the country letting different cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and Houston know about their local artists who will appear on Drake's sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy.
The 21-song album features guest verses from an impressive collection of co-stars, including Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Young Thug, 21 Savage, and Kid Cudi, and of course Travis Scott.
Some of the billboards are straightforward. However, Many Houstonians disagree with Drake about who is Houstons TRUE HERO.
Trae the Truth is a rapper, and Houston-born native. Drake's billboard suggesting Travis Scott is Houston's "Hometown Hero" is ironic because in 2018, Trae released a mixtape entitled "Hometown Hero". He is popular and respected not only on the music scene, but in the streets of Houston and surrounding cities for providing relief, charity, and safety to those involved in the most recent natural disasters.
In February, Trae the Truth and Relief Gang helped Houston residents during a very difficult and unexpected snowstorm. The roads all over Houston had dangerous ice, making it difficult to get for residents to drive and get necessary items like food and water.
Trae said the Relief Gang is constantly getting messages from people stuck in their homes. They are doing what they can to get to them. Trae and a group of volunteers said they’re in it for the long haul and plan on sleeping in their trucks if they have to help provide relief and safety to those effected by Hurricane Ida.
Trae Tha Truth is the man in Houston. He has already been honored with his own day, now he has been presented with the key to the city.
Trae joins Bun B on the list of Texas rappers to be presented with the honor.
"At the end of the day, even though I got it, I'm still humble," Trae said. "I'm still gon' be riding for the city. All my real ones I salute y'all. Lets get it."
